An Engineering Approach to Implementation of the Data Mesh Concept (pdf)
Data Vault 2.0 is a holistic solution that enables prescribed methods to an age-old problem - getting value out of business data assets by releasing workforce innovation through managed self-service analytics capabilities. In the past few years, a new buzz word has gotten our industry's head spinning again - say hello to the Data Mesh Theory or Conceptual Framework. Cynthia Meyersohn is the founder and president of DataRebels, LLC. She is one of only 8 Certified Authorized Data Vault 2.0 Instructors. She also serves as the Chief Operating Officer of DataVaultAlliance Holdings, LLC.Cindi led and coached the architectural design, implementation, and development of Data Vault 2.0 solutions at the U.S. DoD and the Department of State. She has worked in a variety of IT realms over the past 35 years and, as of 2018, had spent the previous 17 years working in applications and data engineering development within the U.S. DoD. As a Solution Architect and Certified Instructor, her responsibilities and expertise range from the design, development, implementation, and technical guidance of Enterprise Data Warehouse/Big Data builds to crafting processes surrounding data acquisition and ingest, data governance and Master Data Management policy and compliance, development, and team leadership.
The Data Mesh concept put forth by Dehghani proposes a divide and conquer approach to tackling monolithic complexity by aligning implementation to the idea of domains. This workshop discusses an engineering approach for Data Mesh deployment that provides a practical architecture and governance framework to deliver connectivity across domains while encouraging a decentralized approach to stewardship and implementation.
Stephen Brobst is the CTO for Teradata. He performed his graduate work in computer science at MIT where his Masters and PhD research focused on high-performance parallel processing. During Barack Obama's first term he was appointed to the Presidential Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST) where he worked on development of the Big Data strategy for the US government. In 2014, at the height of the Big Data phenomenon, he was ranked by ExecRank as the #4 CTO in the USA (behind the CTOs from Amazon.com, Tesla Motors, and Intel) out of a pool of 10,000+ CTOs.

Telling Data Stories That Matter
In our quest to understand data we’ll often come across insights that enlighten, information that entertains, and decision points that call us to action. As we seek to discover and tell these stories we may be driven by curiosity or creativity. But one motivation should never be overlooked: empathy. If we are to tell data stories that truly matter, then we must understand the data and the real people and situations represented and impacted by the data.
Joshua Milligan has a strong background in software development. He brings a blend of analytical and creative thinking to visual analytics and data storytelling. He has written numerous books on visualization and is passionate about helping others gain insights from their data. He has been a featured speaker at conferences, user groups and various technology and industry functions. Joshua has been recognized by Tableau as a Tableau Visionary (formerly Zen Master) every year since 2014 and is now in their Hall of Fame.
